A teenage girl is lucky to be alive after she was pushed off a bridge when she was too scared to jump into the river below.

Jordan Holgerson can be seen standing in front of a group of friends on the ledge of a Moulton Falls bridge in Yacolt, Washington, when she begins to have second thoughts about the 18-metre jump into the Lewis River.

Terrifying video shows friends counting in the 16-year-old, to which she replies, “No, I won’t go in.”

Just seconds later a girl can be seen shoving Jordan in the back sending her smashing into the water’s surface at a horrible angle.

“Oh, that’s so f*****,” one man can be heard saying amongst a series of screams.

Jordan said she passed out momentarily mid-air but was fully conscious when she hit the water.

With five broken ribs, a punctured lung and air bubbles in her chest, a nearby bystander had to rescue the injured teenager from the water before she was rushed to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Centre in Vancouver.

“I could’ve died,” Jordan told KGW8.

She said her friend has since apologised, but the teenager said she was unable to forgive her.

“It could’ve ended a lot worse,” she added.

Her mortified mother, Genelle Holgerson, said a fall from even half that height could have been fatal.

Ms Holgerson said she hoped the person responsible would turn themselves in.

“My daughter’s gonna have a long road to recovery… This is not okay. She could have killed my daughter,” Ms Hogerson said.
